I had a companion throughout my life,
She lived with me and taught me to survive.
It follows me where ever I go,
Always following me in my brightest show.
Whenever I am alone and depress,
I have her with me, my pain it suppress.
Walking on the floor and opening a door,
I am followed by my Shadow.
Its existence is always in light,
So she encourages my life always bright.
I often talk to her share all my feelings,
A quiet listener, my pain she is stealing.
She does exactly what I do?
How she apes so well, nothing I knew.
She curdles me and loves me at most,
Never leaving me alone even in remote.
I have learnt to walk and talk with her,
She guides me, save me from far and near.
I never feel alone and lonely,
She is my part a forever friend lovely.
Years passed by living with her,
She knows my pain as I bear.
It bends to console when I fear,
Often she tries to wipe my tear.
Now as I am growing old,
My shadow trembles all so cold.
As I walk in life dark and deep,
Unable to sit, unable to sleep.
The lights of life is all so dim,
I am loosing my shadow, as I limb.
What a pain to loose my friend,
In the dark, my shadow left me as my life ends…
